Heading from Hua Hin to Chiang Mai, I stopped for one night in the historical city of Sukhothai. I chose to stay at Legendha Sukhothai Hotel. Just 1.6 kms from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sukhothai Historical Park, the hotel serves as an ideal base for exploring the rich history of the ancient Thai capital, the first capital of Thailand, serving as the seat of the Sukhothai Kingdom from 1238 to 1365, before moving to Ayutthaya.
The Sukhothai Historical Park features stunning ancient ruins, temples and monuments from the Sukhothai Kingdom. Once you have finished your day exploring the historical park, including Wat Si Chum and Wat Chang Lom, Legendha Sukhothai Hotel is the ideal haven to which to return for an evening cocktail around their lovely pool.
As you will discover when you enter your room, Legendha Sukhothai Hotel is designed to reflect the traditional Thai style, incorporating local architecture and cultural elements. The hotel aims to create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere for its guests. When I informed them during the booking process that I planned to write a review for Two Passports Packed, they welcomed me with a printed welcome sign which was much appreciated. Featuring a classic Thai design, all air-conditioned rooms feature a private balcony overlooking either the canal, temple or courtyard.

The hotel offers a variety of room types, including deluxe rooms and suites, decorated in a style that blends modern comforts with traditional Thai decor. My room was equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a TV and a minibar.

You will be hungry after your day exploring the historical park. The hotel has an on-site restaurant, called Namkang Restaurant, offering a selection of local and international dishes. The restaurant is situated on the banks of the Mae Lampan Canal. Here you can enjoy your dinner, with an elevated view, while relaxing alongside the canal. I enjoyed breakfast in the same restaurant the following morning before heading to Chiang Mai.

The rooms are located around the large and relaxing swimming pool. What you could do is sit on the porch and enjoy your evening sundowner, enjoying the serenity of the swimming pool and the tropical plants. Otherwise, The Legendha Sukhothai offers many opportunities for cultural immersion, allowing guests to learn more about the history and traditions of Sukhothai. You can select from a wide range of activities, including Buddha amulet making, almsgiving, Sukhotai style handicraft weaving or a traditional Thai cooking class. Or perhaps you prefer to visit the onsite spa for a relaxing session after wandering around the historical park earlier in the day. I visited the spa during my visit and the experience was fine but not exceptional.
If you are staying longer in Sukhothai, you may want to explore nearby attractions, engage in cycling tours, or participating in local markets and cultural events to experience the lifestyle of Sukhothai. It is easy to spend a week in Sukhothai, between the Sukhothai Historical Park and other attractions in the area.
Overall, Legendha Sukhothai Hotel serves as a charming and convenient option for travelers interested in exploring the historical richness of Sukhothai while enjoying comfortable accommodation with a good restaurant at which to eat. There is plenty of onsite parking at the hotel. Though not covered, there is a security guard who will keep an eye on your car overnight.
