Potato Head Restaurant in Bali – Organized Chaos

We had dinner at Potato Head on 12 September 2017.   Once we had battled through the challenge of I) the Bali traffic, II) getting lost and III) finding parking, we managed to work our way into the beach club / restaurant.

Though we expected this to be a highlight of the restaurant choices in Bali, unfortunately we left disappointed.  The area is more geared towards being a beach / pool club and more of a party place than an intimate dining experience.  But if that is what you are looking for, well then you will fit right in. This really wasn’t my scene though.  If you are looking for a dinner place with loud music over the speakers, instead of a nice, intimate, cozy dinner, then this place is ideal.  Again, not my idea of an enjoyable evening.  There are just too many people wandering around doing too many different things – not what I expected when I made the reservation, and not what I expect when choosing a restaurant.

We arrived reasonably early so we could enjoy the beach club prior to dinner.  We selected cocktails and waited at the bar upstairs for our dinner reservation.  The cocktails are super expensive though quite tasty and the selection is reasonable.  When you go, use the chance to enjoy the sunset from the balcony overlooking the beach club while waiting for your reservation.

Once our reservation time arrived we made our way to the restaurant.  To be fair, the food was really tasty.  One of the highlights of the meals was the chicken salad.  The dessert too was good.  Although the atmosphere was not agreeable, the food was good.

If you are looking for a nice and quiet romantic dinner in Bali, Potato Head Beach Club is NOT your place.  Overall, of the seven restaurants that we visited in Bali, we ranked Potato Head dead last, 7 out of 7.  However, if you do decide to visit Potato Head Beach Club you can find them on Google Maps here.
