Baan Suk Sukhothai: Peaceful Haven for Exploring the Historical Park

Having stayed at Legendha Sukhothai Hotel on my way to Chiang Mai, I decided to stay at Baan Suk Sukhothai on my way back to Hua Hin. Checking in for two nights, so that I could spend the next day exploring Sukhothai, I was immediately impressed by the serenity of the gardens and the lovely pool of the resort.

The hotel is set far back from the main road that runs through Sukhothai, to such an extent that it could be difficult to find. However, if you follow Baan Suk Sukhothai on Google Maps, you should come right. There is ample onsite parking so you will have no concern that your car will not be taken care of overnight. Just 2.4 kilometers from the Sukhothai Historical Park, the hotel is ideally located close to the main reason that you would have come to the area.

With only about 10 rooms, the resort is certainly not as big as the other hotels in the area. All rooms are set in the lovely relaxing gardens and have a good view of the large swimming pool. What the hotel lacks in size is made up by the quality of the accommodation, pool and garden, as well as the front office staff. Though initial impressions of the room, from the outside, were not favorable, with exposed brick that gives the feeling that the units were never completed, the room was lovely. It was all you would expect from a resort of this nature in Sukhothai. The room was perfectly comfortable, and, being in an isolated location, allowed for a perfect night’s sleep.

It’s not often that I take advantage of the swimming pool at hotels. However, after a long day exploring Sukhothai, including Wat Si Chum and the Sukhothai Historical Park, it was time for a nice relaxing swim before heading up to the room’s outside balcony overlooking the pool for an evening sundowner.

Unfortunately, there is not an onsite restaurant at the hotel so I was left to my own devices in the evening. However, for breakfast, in the reception area, you have a basic selection of Thai and Western dishes and the coffee is acceptable also. What I did for dinner was drive down to the road to the hotel at which I stayed on my way to Chiang Mai, Legendha Sukhothai Hotel, before heading back to Baan Suk Sukhothai.

I get the feeling that the resort does not get as many visitors as it should, which is a shame given just how lovely the resort is. I was pleased to discover Baan Suk Sukhothai on booking.com and I would certainly consider staying there again when I am next in Sukhothai. I hope that you will do the same.
