All Aboard!! Let’s visit Air Diamond Café in beautiful Chiang Mai. Or perhaps venture to outer space by visiting Mars Café? How about sharing coffee with two cheerful elephants at Elely Café? Or perhaps a fish-feeding frenzy at Carpe Café? Or perhaps some angelic cheesecake under a waterfall at Dantewada Land of Angels? Let’s explore five unique cafés in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
1) Air Diamond Café
Air Diamond Café is one of Chiang Mai’s most playful and unexpected coffee stops, ideal for travelers who enjoy quirky experiences alongside their caffeine fix. Built around and inside a real retired aircraft, the café allows visitors to sit inside the plane’s cabin and cockpit, complete with rows of seats and aviation-themed details, or relax outside beneath the wings in the open-air seating area. It is a place where curiosity quickly turns into fun photo opportunities, and not all are airline related.
The menu focuses on coffee and refreshing drinks, including well-made iced coffees, Thai-style sweet beverages and fruit-based options suited to Chiang Mai’s warm climate. Light snacks and desserts are also available, making it a comfortable stop rather than just a quick photo break. Staff are friendly and welcoming, adding to the relaxed and slightly whimsical experience.

Located just outside the city center, Air Diamond Café is easy to reach by car and pairs well with a casual afternoon of sightseeing. Whether you are a coffee lover, aviation enthusiast or simply looking for a unique café experience, Air Diamond Café Chiang Mai delivers something memorable and distinctly different from the usual café scene.
Outside of the airplane, you will find statues of Spiderman relaxing quietly on a bench, The Hulk looking like he wants to steal your coffee and even Ironman about to defend the galaxy, all part of the fun of visiting Air Diamond Café.
You can even stay at the Air Diamond Hotel, including in the upside down house.

2) Carpe Café
Carpe Café in Chiang Mai offers a peaceful, nature-focused experience that feels far removed from the city’s busy café scene. Set within a lush and cool garden environment, the café is best known for its unique round seating arrangement, where tables are positioned in shallow water. Around the tables, schools of carpe swim calmly through the clear water, creating a soothing backdrop that immediately encourages visitors to slow down and relax.
The presence of the fish is central to the Carpe Café experience. Guests sit close to the water’s edge, watching the fish move gently alongside while enjoying a coffee or cold drink. You can even buy packets of fish food and drop the pellets into the water to encourage the fish to come to your table. The sound of flowing water, combined with the shaded greenery and sunken seating, gives the café a distinctly tranquil atmosphere that feels closer to a garden retreat than a traditional café. Make sure to visit the bathrooms as it’s not often you will be surrounded by fish as you wash your hands.

The menu is simple and well suited to the setting, offering coffee, iced drinks and light refreshments that complement a leisurely visit. Make sure to try their blueberry cheesecake – you can thank me later. Rather than rushing in and out, most guests come to Carpe Café to linger, enjoy conversation and absorb the calm surroundings. It is particularly popular with couples, families and visitors looking for a relaxing stop between sightseeing plans. When I visited Chiang Mai in November 2025, the café was really busy, to such an extent that twice I was unable to get a table and chose not to wait in the long lines outside.
Carpe Café is not about productivity or modern café trends. Its appeal lies in its connection to nature, gentle sensory experience and unhurried pace. For those seeking a quiet escape where water, fish and greenery take center stage, Carpe Café delivers a memorable and calming experience just outside the heart of the city.

3) Dantewada Land of Angels Café
Dantewada Land of Angels Café is one of Chiang Mai’s most visually striking cafés, blending whimsical design with a calm, nature-inspired setting. Often described as a fairytale café, the space is filled with white statues, angelic figures and sculptural details that create a dreamy atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Set within lush gardens and surrounded by greenery, the café feels peaceful despite its popularity on social media.
The seating areas are spread across several zones, including outdoor garden tables and shaded spots that allow guests to enjoy the scenery at a relaxed pace. Take your smoothie and head to the waterfalls, making sure to pose for photos behind the curtain of water.
Every corner appears designed for photography, making Dantewada a favorite for couples, travel bloggers and travelers looking for a unique café experience in Chiang Mai. Despite its strong visual focus, it never feels rushed, encouraging visitors to slow down and take in their surroundings.

The menu offers a mix of coffee, tea and refreshing drinks, alongside light meals and desserts. It is a place to linger over a drink rather than grab something quickly and leave.
Located slightly outside of the city center, Dantewada Land of Angels Café is best reached by car and is ideal for a leisurely afternoon outing. For visitors seeking a serene escape, memorable photos and a café experience that feels more like a curated destination, Dantewada delivers something truly distinctive within Chiang Mai’s diverse café scene.

4) Elely Café
Elely Café, located in the countryside outside of Chiang Mai, is more than a typical coffee stop. It is best known for its gentle, rural setting where two elephants, many friendly dogs and open green spaces form part of the everyday experience. Surrounded by fields and trees, the café feels worlds away from the city, offering a calm, nature-focused escape that appeals especially to animal lovers.
Elely’s most memorable feature is the two elephants on the property. Allowed to roam free, yet fed by the staff and guests, the elephants have been ‘adopted’ by Elely Café. Visitors can enjoy their drinks while watching these majestic animals from a respectful distance, creating a sense of connection with nature that is rare for a café setting. Guests can buy pumpkin slices or a bunch of bananas for 100 baht and wander over to feed the elephants and take some photos with them. Friendly dogs wander freely around the café, adding to the relaxed, homely atmosphere and making the café feel welcoming. Just remember that that the dogs do not care too much for a taste of your cheesecake.

The café itself is simple and open, designed to blend into the countryside. Seating is spread outdoors, allowing guests to fully appreciate the rural views and fresh air. Views over the river in which the elephants are bathed set the scene for a relaxing afternoon of caffeine and sweet indulgence.
The menu focuses on coffee, refreshing drinks and light snacks, perfect for a leisurely visit rather than a quick stop. Elely Café is not about polished interiors or city-style trends. It is about slowing down, enjoying nature and spending time in a peaceful environment shared with animals. For travelers looking to experience a softer, more authentic side of Chiang Mai’s countryside, Elely Café offers a memorable calming escape.
