Palm West Beach, Dubai – A Parallel Universe with great food and fun

Hang on a minute, am I still in Dubai? Am I in West Palm Beach in Florida or Palm West Beach on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai? What kind of parallel universe is this? Having visited West Palm Beach many years ago when I was in Florida, it was now time to visit Palm West Beach in Dubai.

Palm West Beach is a 1.6 kilometer stretch of beach along the western side of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. With stunning views of the skyline of Dubai, and a promenade filled with many chic restaurants, hotels and beach clubs, you are spoiled for choice as you wander along the coastline, soaking in the atmosphere of yet another Dubai attraction.

So why is it called Pam West Beach? At the risk of stating the obvious, it is on the Palm Jumeriah in Dubai, and it’s on the west beach. Hence Palm West Beach. You will likely encounter ‘Instagram happy’ ‘influencers’ and many other beautiful people as you stroll aimlessly between Eva Beach House in the north-west to Beach by Five in the south-east, stopping along the way yourself to soak in the views of the sun setting over the skyline of Dubai, over towards Ain Dubai.

After much online research, we selected Koko Bay as the restaurant at which we would like to have dinner. Having arrived just before sunset and spent around an hour wandering up and down the promenade taking too many photo’s as always, the restaurant was packed and we were unable to secure a seat outside as preferred. However, the lovely lady at the greeting area welcomed us with a seat inside and we made our way into the lovely, air-conditioned restaurant away from the late afternoon Dubai heat.

We selected two cocktails from their extensive menu and ordered dinner, all the while wondering whether, had we come earlier, a table outside would have been preferred. Anyway, that was not meant to be. Soon enough, the starters arrived. I cannot remember what we ordered but suffice to say that they were amazing. I can honestly say that my main course of the Thai green chicken curry was the best I have ever had, even having visited Thailand extensively over the past number of years.

Dinner ended way too early and we then wandered, in the hue of the early evening, towards Oceana Residences for yet more photo’s.

If you are looking for a lovely, chilled way to spend a late afternoon / early evening then consider Palm West Beach. In fact, why not go for the day and enjoy one of the many beach clubs dotted along the promenade?

Enjoy your visit to the lovely Palm West Beach in Dubai, and, while there, rescue me from the parallel universe that runs between Dubai and Florida.
