Hanaaya Restaurant, Dubai – chic and classy waterside breakfast

Heading into Mina Salam you are struck by the tranquility of the location, just a few steps away from the beautiful Jumeirah Beach and with wonderful views over towards the Burj Al-Arab. I had selected Hanaaya Restaurant for breakfast, a casual yet elegant restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating options.

Arriving just after 9AM, the restaurant was already full of hotel and other guests sampling the large selection of breakfast options. Unfortunately, the tables outside were all occupied so we settled for one near the window with views of the water that runs through the Jumeirah complex. With small abras ferrying passengers between the various stops, you feel tempted to leave your food for later and join the short cruise around the lagoon.

Starting off with a latte, and easing into the breakfast routine, people watching proved a second option to keep oneself busy while deciding at which station you would start your breakfast adventure. As would be expected from a restaurant of this quality, the food selection is large, ranging from healthy drinks to yoghurts, croissants to meat cuts, and eggs and breads of all descriptions.

Having made the first selection and returned to the table, it was time for a second latte. The waiters are extremely attentive and will take care of whatever food selection grabs your attention. I started off with a selection of meat cuts, some hummus, various fruit and a selection of health drinks.

After having returned for second and then third helpings, to sample as many of the options as possible, it was time for one final latte while we waited for the bill.

Not having been able to secure a table outside when we arrived, but with the area now less busy, the waiter kindly offered us a large bottle of water and a table right alongside the canal. Drinking the water while enjoying the birds floating nearby, with views over towards the Burj Al-Arab, and watching the passing abras, one could not help but reflect on just how fortunate we are to live in the United Arab Emirates and have the chance to visit such fine, world-class, restaurants.

I can highly recommend Hanaaya Restaurant at Mina Salam, not only for its ideal location but also its large selection of breakfast options. I recommend that you arrive earlier rather than later, ideally around 8AM, to secure a table right alongside the water. Make sure that you come hungry and enjoy as many of the breakfast choices as you can.
