Have you heard about Al-Qana Marina, the latest and coolest dining destination in Abu Dhabi? We visited Al-Qana for a late dinner during Ramadan and selected Mado as our preferred restaurant. Serving traditional Turkish food, Mado is a chilled restaurant overlooking the canal, with both outside and inside dining options.
With a classy yet traditional menu, you are spoiled for choice as you peruse the dining options. We started off with water while we waited for the third guest, taking the chance to enjoy the quiet evening and the views from the balcony overlooking Al-Qana Marina. Having arrived quite early, we wandered around Al-Qana, taking photos of the new development in Abu Dhabi, and admiring the extensive refurbishment that has gone on around the area. Al-Qana could quite easily complete with Palm West Beach in Dubai in terms of its class and selection of restaurants, although the area has yet to be fully discovered by residents or tourists to Abu Dhabi. The area was reasonably quiet on the evening that we visited, although it did start getting busier around 10PM as more people were heading out for dinner after the evening Ramadan prayers.
We ordered a selection of starters, including traditional Arabic salads and kibbeh. The food arrived promptly, served by an automated waiter trolley about the height of a five-year old child, dressed rather smartly in a bow tie and tuxedo. This combination of traditional food and a modern serving method should serve the restaurant well as more people discover this unique and interesting way of doing things.
Having socialized for a few hours it was time for a Moroccan tea to end the evening. We could have extended the meal into dessert, selected from their extensive menu. The baklava looked the most tempting, but we managed to avoid that temptation to the relief of our waistlines.
A visit to Mado Al-Qana will satisfy your craving for traditional Turkish food, while enjoying the relaxing surroundings of Al-Qana Marina. For your visit, find Mado Al-Qana on Google Maps here. Other locations at which Mado may be found can be found here.
