Nestled in a quiet bay in the south-west of the island, The Bay is a lovely quiet restaurant right on La Preneuse Beach. Facing west, you are in for a treat as you enjoy spectacular sunsets, cocktails in hand, as you unwind after spending the day enjoying your Mauritian vacation.
Situated almost within walking distance of Marguery Villas where we stayed for the 28 days on our vacation in Mauritius, The Bay is right on the beach, so close that you could empty the ice from your cocktail into the sea. Parking was not easy but we managed to squeeze into a spot just down the road and walked to the restaurant. Open from 6:30PM for dinner, we arrived early so that we could enjoy cocktails before dinner.
Serving a fusion menu, meaning that ingredients from different cultures and recipes are brought together, you are spoiled for choice as you are left to decide between tempting starters, delicious main courses and delightful desserts. Even the selection of cocktails will have you wondering whether that initial cocktail was enough or whether you should go for a second one just to see and taste the differences. Go on, treat yourself, you know you want to.
Slowly the sun settled beyond the horizon as the night sky turned from blue to orange to purple and then black. By that time the original cocktail was done and the second round was on its way. Starters were over and we eagerly awaited the main courses.
As we settled into the main course and more guests arrived, the atmosphere changed into a lively yet chilled evening. Soon it was time for dessert and coffee, by which time the splendid colors of the night’s sky had been replaced by black, yet it was still clear enough to see the boats bobbing on the ocean awaiting their morning run into the ocean to catch the following evening’s dinner.
All in all we enjoyed our dinner at The Bay in Mauritius, especially since it is so close to the resort at which we stayed.
