Bangkok’s nightlife has many options, from rooftop lounges overlooking the skyline to neon-lit streets pulsing with cheer. On the roof of one of the city’s most stylish boutique hotels is a cocktail bar that combines all the elegance of a hidden gem with the vibrant energy of Thai nightlife: The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar at Hotel Muse, Bangkok. Located in the stylish Langsuan neighborhood of Lumphini, in central Bangkok, The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar channels classic 1920s jazz club vibes with modern mixology flair, making it a must-visit for cocktail lovers and curious travelers alike.
The speakeasy culture of hidden bars operating quietly through the Prohibition Era in the United States has inspired lounges and cocktail bars worldwide. In Bangkok, the Speakeasy Rooftop Bar at Hotel Muse takes that tradition and elevates it with a unique Thai twist. When Hotel Muse opened, its designers envisioned a cocktail and cigar bar that would become more than a place to drink, and instead become a nightlife destination in its own right. Over the years it has become known for its stylish interiors, inventive cocktails and lively yet refined atmosphere. Its reputation has grown, attracting locals, expats and travelers searching for something sophisticated yet unpretentious.

From the moment you arrive to the lobby of Hotel Muse and make your way through the stylish reception area, designed with décor from the 1920s, you will feel as if you have stepped back in time and into an era when life was less complicated. Upon exiting the elevator for the Speakeasy Bar, you will be greeted by purple lighting, dark leather seats and a view over Bangkok that will make your cocktails taste just that much sweeter.
What sets Speakeasy Rooftop Bar apart is its vintage elegance with a contemporary edge. The space is divided into two levels: the lower lounge feels cozy and intimate, with plush seating, dark wood and velvet upholstery perfect for quiet conversations. A live band plays every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8PM, filling the room with warm, acoustic sound that sets the mood without overpowering the space.
Head upstairs to the rooftop terrace for a more open vibe. Here, the rich city skyline becomes part of the décor, and you can sip your cocktails under stars while enjoying the breeze and setting sun. The overall design blends 1920s glamour with modern comfort – dramatic chandeliers, dark hues accented with brass and comfortable seating that invites you to stay just a little bit longer than perhaps you would otherwise.
At Speakeasy, drinks are not just poured, they are crafted. The menu beautifully balances classic cocktails and innovative originals, each one presented with artistic flair. Presentation is part of the experience: cocktails are delivered with props to match their names. You will be intrigued by just how cocktails from the 21st century can be linked back to their 1920s ancestors.

Perhaps your eyes will be drawn to Jazz Smash, Orient Express or Hemingway. Or perhaps Cloud Chaser, Siam Whisper or Speakeasy Sling are more to your taste. Or how about the ‘Too Hot to Handle’, presented for your drinking pleasure in a fire extinguisher? Whatever exotic drinks eventually catch your eye, whether with or without alcohol, you can be assured that their presentation will be unique and will be perfect for your Instagram reels.
From a perfectly balanced Old Fashioned to more adventurous creations inspired by Thai flavors and seasonal ingredients, every drink feels like a conversation piece, especially given the unique way in which each cocktail is presented.
What I recommend you do is arrive early, ideally during the golden hour for photos. Our reservation at Speakeasy Rooftop Bar was for 5PM, an ideal time to relax with your first cocktail while waiting for the sun to dip just that little bit lower in the Bangkok evening sky. That way you can ease into the Bangkok evening, enjoying the company of good friends while enjoying the sunset from the rooftop. Perhaps, like we did, you then have dinner plans at Medici Playhouse Restaurant & Bar to close out your evening in the Thai capital?
Cocktails at Speakeasy Rooftop Bar are not cheap by any means. When you factor in the 10% service charge and 7% VAT, you are looking at well over 550 baht, around 18 dollars, per cocktail. Even by Bangkok standards, that is a high price but then again you are paying for the beautiful skyline views over the city as well as the ornate ways in which the cocktails are presented.

In a city where nightlife can be as loud as it is lively, Speakeasy Rooftop Bar offers a place where time seems to slow, conversations flow easily and cocktails are an experience in themselves. For visitors and locals alike, it’s the kind of hidden treasure that makes Bangkok’s bar scene endlessly fascinating. If you’re planning a night out in the city, make sure this elegant speakeasy earns a place on your itinerary.
