Having driven from Phuket, where we stayed at Wings Villas Phuket, we arrived in Krabi mid-afternoon. Checking into The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort, one feels a sense of relaxation and peace as you are welcomed to the resort.
We booked two rooms for our vacation, one for Joan and Lesley and one for Arlyn and me. You are spoiled for choice at Tubkaak, with a selection of nine room types. Arlyn and I selected the Seaview Room, just steps away into the garden and the beautiful beach with views into the Andaman Sea. Joan and Lesley were in a Garden Room, about halfway between the reception area and the beach, and just steps away from the Seaview Room in which Arlyn and I stayed.
You could easily check into the resort and spend your entire vacation at Tubkaak. Choose a table right alongside the beach, at the lovely Arundina Restaurant, and enjoy the large selection of breakfast items. I am sure that you will not limit yourself to just one morning cappuccino – they are too good to refuse. Also try the ‘morning booster’ of ginger and some other fine mixes. Start your day off properly with a relaxing meal overlooking the beautiful Andaman Sea before heading back to your suite and finding that bathing costume.
Making sure that you earlier reserved your spot on the beach, head over to your selected bean bags and prepare yourself for a lazy day under the shade of the trees, on the white sand beach, as you watch people swimming or heading out on their private boat cruises to nearby islands. Otherwise, grab yourself one of the two hammocks and read a book while you relax in paradise.
Lunch will soon be upon you, at which stage you could find something from the restaurant again, within steps of where you spent your morning lying on the beach.
Perhaps you would like to spend the afternoon in the sea, trying out their clear paddle boat? Or how about spending the afternoon in the beautiful swimming pool, close to the spa? Surely you cannot find a more relaxing way to spend your vacation?
As the afternoon turns into evening, it’s once again time for dinner. Head down to Arundina Restaurant again, or perhaps try Di Mare Restaurant, for early evening cocktails as you enjoy the sunset looking west over the Andaman Sea. What better place could there be to select your cocktail and then find a table right on the beach as another day at Tubkaak comes to an end?
What I liked about our room was how close it was to the sea. The small patio with loungers overlooking the garden made for many afternoons of relaxation. Arlyn and I even took the chance to enjoy the signature outdoor bathtub under the evening stars.
You are spoiled for choice as to how you would like to spend your vacation while at Tubkaak. Perhaps you would like to try L’Escape Spa, nestled amongst the trees on the property, and one of their cocoon shaped treatment rooms? Or how about a Wellness Retreat with various activities such as guided meditation, something they call ‘Ocean Therapy’, where you are taken on a guided paddleboard journey, or something called ‘Forest Therapy’ where you can indulge in a 3.7 km hike to Ngorn Nak mountain and see beautiful rock formations and panoramic views of lakes and the ocean?
Perhaps you would like to borrow a book from their library, or, heaven forbid, do some work while you are on vacation. Their on-site library is the ideal spot for this. Maybe you are looking for a special gift or souvenir from your vacation to Krabi? If so, their on-site gift shop, called ‘L’Artisan, should have what you need. Perhaps you are looking for a more active vacation, in which case you could indulge in mountain biking, Thai boxing or yoga. Otherwise something more leisurely may suit you better, in which case a Thai cooking class could be just what you need.
One thing about Tubkaak is its distance into Krabi, i.e. the main beach road with the restaurants, massage parlors and tourist shops. You are looking at a drive of 30 minutes into Krabi, so bear this is mind if this is where you are to meet your day tours to Phi Phi Islands or visit friends who may be staying closer to the ‘center of the action’. What you will find with Tubkaak is complete relaxation on a beautiful beach surrounded by lovely trees and greenery. If this is what you prefer for your vacation then The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort will be ideal for your vacation.
All in all we enjoyed our vacation to Krabi and the lovely Tubkaak Boutique Resort. I would definitely return to Tubkaak if I was to find myself in Krabi again.
